Update on Mum

Today the oncologist called her with the results of the tests she had during the surgery and these have shown that three of the glands that were removed contained cancer cells but a further ten of those tested were negative. The bone scan which was carried out last week has also shown that the tumor had not spread to any other part of the body and the surgery was successful.

As a result of these tests the oncologist has decided to prescribe chemo as well as the radiotherapy. Thankfully she doesn't have to go in for any further surgery.

Mam is doing grand otherwise. She's a real fighter and isn't taking this lying down. In fact she is causing such an uproar in this country with regards to the treatment available to those living in rural areas of Ireland. She has become a bit of a household name over here in Ireland with her fight for better cancer services. She's been interviewed by the Irish Independent, the Mirror and the Donegal Democrat and been on the radio about three times now. :) Her latest interview with the Mirror got her onto page 4. We're hoping for page 3 for the next one...Me mam talking about her boobies on page 3. :)
