I last posted. What's been happening? Well, I did manage to pass my final exam which is fantastic. :) Those results came out on the 7th, a week sooner than was expected. Thankfully most of my friends passed too. A couple didn't which isn't so good but, hopefully, they will pass the resit.
I've since been home again. Actually I just got back on Saturday evening. It was a very quick visit. I'm in the middle of my module 8 placement so I can't afford to take any more time off.
It was mums graduation on Friday. The ceremony was held at Galway University. Mum, myself and two of her friends went down there in the morning - the ceremony was during the evening. If you have never been to Galway I highly recommend visiting the place. It is beautifully old in history and architecture but the people are young and very forward thinking. A wonderfully creative environment to be around. Everywhere I looked there were posters advertising upcoming plays, music gigs or art exhibitions. It was an incredibly inspiring place to be; very energising and positive. I would love to go back to spend more time there. One word of warning; the sign posting there is nigh on negligible. It took us approximately two hours to find the university and it is a very small city.
Anyway, mum was graduating from Galway with a diploma in Community Development specifically Peace Building. The people she graduated with came from a variety of different backgrounds and from opposite ends of the political divide. They were a fascinating bunch of people whom I enjoyed being with very much. The histories of the people and the courage to stick the course out, despite overwhelming prejudices held by many others was an inspiration to me. Man, I grumble over the bursary paid out to us nursing students but at least I don't have to deal with political hatred and pressure.
The ceremony was beautiful and I am so glad I was there. I really am. The place and the people and seeing my mum looking so good and happy...well, what more could I have asked for? :)
