Best foot forward

Well here we go, best foot forward and all that. I went to my first ever life drawing class yesterday. It was fantastic, seriously. I had no idea what to expect when I filled in the application form and handed over my money. Will they expect prior knowledge and experience? Am I going to be surrounded by professional artists who will mock me the moment I open my mouth? Nothing like that at all.

The lecturers who were teaching us were so welcoming and informed. But I drew my first nude! :)

It was fantastic. I was, it has to be said, shocked when one of our lecturers turned out to be the model and I have to say I did feel a little awkward when I was attempting to measure out distances with my little pencil, as advised by the lecturers, and felt I was taking too long looking at her. But I actually managed to turn out a fairly decent wee sketch which I'm chuffed to bits with. 

I came home last night on top form after this and celebrated by purchasing online a few sketch bits and pieces and having a few glasses of wine. I've also discovered the darker the music I'm listening to and the more wine I've drunk the darker the tone of my sketches. But saying that one of the girls I was sketching with mentioned one of my pictures was dark and a little scary. So maybe that's just me. Hey better out than in.
