Yeah! We’re on holiday...
We have finally arrived in Canada, Alberta to be exact, and it is fantastic. Just one little minor thing, I have developed flu like symptoms on my first day here.
We woke up yesterday at 04:00 to get ready for our trip so at this point we have had roughly 3-4 hours sleep. By 05:30 we were at the bus stop waiting for the coach to take us to the airport. Good trip to the airport where we arrived to check in and have a wander about to pick up the various bits and pieces we needed to take with us for the trip.
Boarded and settled down. I then developed a pounder of a headache. I could feel my pulses at my temples pounding away and the tension in my scalp which I tried to apply some gentle massage to in order to try to ease it. But to no avail. The analgesics I took didn’t have any effect either. So I just put up with it. The little lad who was seated next to me was a treasure. Such a little bundle of affection. We both shared the headphones so we could watch his movie together as my screen had given up the ghost pretty much as soon as we took off.
The flight was great. We flew with Air Canada and the crew were very helpful and friendly. The food was dire but it was free and we had been warned of it in advance by Ray’s mum, who had flown in June to Canada with the same airline. We had bought some sandwiches at the shop in the airport to take with us which was a blessing as none of us were able to eat the food served. The drinks were also free which was fantastic as Ray’s doctor had ordered him to have at least one alcoholic drink on the flight to keep his blood nicely thinned.
The flight continued uneventful. We arrived in Toronto and made a mad dash to get the connecting flight to Edmonton. This flight was not so uneventful. I was seated next to the most chatty lady ever. Man alive, no problem to her but I was just so exhausted at this point that the last thing I wished for was to be kept awake by someone telling me of their family history. But eventually she appeared to twig that sleep was overtaking me - the fact I kept yawning and my heading nodding forward probably helped. So I managed a short nap before we landed. I did actually catch the X-Men Wolverine movie as the screen on this flight worked.
We landed at Edmonton a little later than scheduled but to be quite frank we hadn’t noticed as we were so happy to have arrived and the journey finished.
Ray’s brother arrived shortly after we arrived to take us back to his place. His truck was enormous! lol It was fantastic. When we were driving back from the airport to his home we went past many large truck which were a commonly driven vehicle here in Alberta. They are the only vehicle which are suitable for the winters they have here.
