Christmas work

Christmas is finally over and soon to be a new year. Let's hope that this one brings us better luck than the last one.

I worked for most of Christmas which to be honest I prefer. I'm not so much of a bah humbug but I don't enjoy this holiday as much as I used to. I haven't done so in many years and I find it a lot more satisfying to work. I don't think being a patient in hospital is ever a good thing but to be in hospital over Christmas is very depressing and I like to think that I can provide a little comfort to those who are in that unfortunate position. I'm not trying to come across as some kind of shining light/angel but I love my job and to be able to allow someone feel a little better or happier is very rewarding. Unfortunately the unit was full of patients over Christmas and it definitely took it's toll on me. Physically that is. By the end of the third shift I arrived home in tears due to the pain in my back, shoulders and neck. We suffered from lack of staff that last shift and it showed.

At least I have the next few days off to chill and relax and get myself back together.
