This administration makes much out of the fact there have been no more al qaeda attacks since 9/11 - 2001.
This is typical of the specious arguments they put forward.
Fortunately it can easily be refuted.
The first attack on the world trade center killed 6 and wounded 1,000.
This attack happened on Feb. 26, 1993...8 1/2 years elapsed between the two attacks.
Now they were temporarily inconvenienced by our activity in Afghanistan but Bush left there to go into Iraq. They have now metastasized into 60 countries, reorganized the leadership into separate cells, their financing methods, communication methods (no more cell phones, couriers and encrypted emails)
Finally there is no need for them to rush...this country is wide open...thousands of illegal aliens weekly...chemical plants...oil and gas refineries...airplane cargo...shipping containers...they can take their pick.
